We took advantage of Enea’s holidays and the invitation of La Darbia, a residence located on Lake Orta that hosted us in its marvelous setting.

A small paradise of refined but comfortable elegance, perfect for a family with small children in tow.

The children also tried for the first time to sleep together in a small room all their own {Leo in the camp bed}. It was great to hear them talk and talk in the morning before they joined us in Latvian. Yes, because Enea, like a good older brother, helped Leo get out of his bed, what a couple!

A vineyard, breakfast delivered directly to a basket every morning at the desired time, a fun playground for children and a pool with a lake view: we couldn’t have hoped for better accommodation! The kids had a great time and finally, even Mom and Dad allowed themselves a little relaxation.

Yes, because in Darbia there is also a restaurant that has allowed us to forget the labors of the kitchen for a few days !! The first night we took advantage of all four together and the children very much liked the gnocchi made for them. On the following evenings we asked for room service for them and once I went to bed Alberto and I sneaked to the restaurant La Cucina Della Darbia for a quiet evening {everything under control, the apartment was very close and we had the active baby phone! }.

Obviously we could not miss a visit to the village of Orta San Giulio and the island of the same name, a little pastel-colored gem that made me dream and take an infinite number of photos. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly and helpful people, super romantic views, despite the weather that unfortunately was not very forgiving.

We literally lost ourselves in the narrow streets of Orta, every corner was perfect and the kids had a blast playing and hiding. In some corners, time seemed to have stopped fifty years ago.

And when the sun finally returned we took a trip to the nearby Mottarone. We got there by car but the funicular from Stresa is wonderful too, especially on a day like the one we found. Enea had a great time getting off on the Alpyland rail bobsleigh track. And the lucky one has made two rounds, one with his mother and one with his father! Super recommended but only for children at least 4 years old.

Finally the last day {my birthday!} We were at Lake Maggiore for a day in the beautiful Stresa. We walked the entire walk along the lake until we reached the center of the town for a well-deserved ice cream covered in melted chocolate {the ice cream parlor is called K2 and was recommended by a local friend }.

It was a beautiful journey, we finally rested and the children had a great time.

Thank you so much to Daria for hospitality and kindness, if you want to spend moments of relaxation and family fun in a special place, now you know where to go!
